This early translation of the Bible into the French language, contains Old and New Testaments as well as the Apocrypha. It was translated from Latin into French by Roman Catholic theologians from the University of Louvain. This French translation was previously printed in a polyglot version by Christopher Plantin in Antwerp in 1571. This volume was printed by Ancelin Thibaud in Lyons, France in A.D. 1609.
La Saincte Bible contains several tables prepared by Father Jean Harlemius (c. 1537-1578) of the University of Louvain. It contains many interesting woodcut illustrations in both the Old and New Testaments, as well as decorative initials throughout.
